Tonight, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD begins the “LMD” storyline.

In a way, Dr. Holden Radcliffe, played by John Hannah, is the father of the LMD. He designed and helped create AIDA, the first life model decoy of its kind.
“It’s an obvious evolution of the technology Radcliffe was working on previously with transhumans,” Hannah tells ComicBook.com, “and the kinds of AI technology that SHIELD had been working on, and that we come together and Fitz and I develop that technology together and finish off that program to a point where she can be field tested.”
Hannah even goes to say that the analogy can be taken further, comparing dealing with Aida to raising a child.
“As that AI technology hits speeds bumps along the way, there a moments when you have to sit down and have a talk to your lily-eyed teenagers. There are moments where they get out of hand, where they mess up. Like in life, we learn by trial an error, and it’s the same in science.”
“LMD” kicks off tonight in the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD midseason premiere episode, “Broken Promises.”
