Benedict Wong is an unabashed comic book nerd. The actor, who played the conveniently named Wong in Doctor Strange and is reprising the role in Avengers: Infinity War, frequently talks about growing up reading Spider-Man comics, and how his fandom took over at moments on the set of Strange. He even "lost his sh*t" when he met Stan "The Man" Lee at the world premiere of the film.
So, it's high praise indeed when he says he looks at Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, as Lee's successor.
"It's it fantastic that [the story is] slowly unfolding as we realize what these infinity stones are?" Wong told ComicBook.com in an interview. "It's amazing. Kevin Feige's just a continuation of Stan Lee. As much as Stan created all these characters within the comics with Kirby and with Steve Ditko, and it's just fantastic. I just think it's real credit to Kevin as the baton's been passed on. He is truly realizing and lifting you from the comic book. Lifting it from the scripts, and really garnering all these, in my book, incredible actors."
As president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige has shepherded the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception in Iron Man, bringing together several lesser-known characters and making them internationally known. Currently both Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War are in production, the eighteenth and nineteenth movies in the MCU, respectively. That's a heck of a legacy for a decade's work, indeed.
