Expect The Guardians Of The Galaxy To Grow In Membership

In the comic books, as it happens with most superhero teams, the Guardians of the Galaxy roster is always changing. Since the newest incarnation of the Guardians of the Galaxy was launched in 2008 (the original version was created in 1969), twenty Marvel characters have at one time or another been members of the team. So, I wouldn't get too attached to Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket, and Drax being the only members of the live-action team, and there's always a chance that one or more will go their separate way.

During a set visit, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz teased to us — along with other members of the press — its membership will grow.

"There are a few members that will be helping the Guardians out along the course of this movie," he shared. "Perhaps by the end of the movie, someone will have joined them onboard."

Who might he be referring to? Since this set visit took place in April, he probably referring to one of the three new members — Mantis, Yondu, and Nebula — that were seemingly confirmed in the Super Bowl trailer. Then again, he might be referring to someone else. We shall see!

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
