After wowing audiences with the first film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had quite a few expectations to live up to. Marvel Studios used plenty of concept art to help bring the sequel to life – including a beautiful one of two of the film’s main characters.

Andy Park, who has lent his talents to many of Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, recently shared a piece of Vol. 2 concept art on Twitter. It shows Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) bathed in purple light on an alien planet. You can check it out below.

Park’s caption on the photo references the “unspoken thing”, a running line in the film that alludes to the pair’s budding romantic relationship.
The concept art doesn’t appear to reference any particular sequence in the film, as the background looks like a mix between the inside of a spaceship and a foliage-covered planet. The costumes, on the other hand, look pretty near spot-on, although Star-Lord’s jacket appears to be slightly different than what was ultimately shown in the film.
Regardless, Park’s concept art provides a pretty detailed rendering of two of the Guardians in the film, and gives fans a look at the creative process that went into bringing Vol. 2 to life.
