Considering the extreme lengths HBO goes to keep Game of Thrones plot developments under wraps – not even critics get to see the finished episodes early – some would assume it a pretty natural transition into keeping the secret of the Marvel Universe.
In reality, though, Jones says the two don’t even compare. “Well, I will say that Marvel is 100 times more secretive than Game of Thrones. Like, they’re not even on the same playing field.”
The same can be said of how the Marvel and Game of Thrones fandoms compare. “I find the comic book audience a lot more intense than the fantasy one, definitely,” Jones says. “It’s been cool. There’s been a great response when I’ve been out and about and people realize I’m playing Iron Fist. It’s made me realize that loads of people actually read comic books over here and loads of people are into martial arts.”
Jones will debut as Iron Fist, Danny Rand, in Marvel Iron Fist. Marvel’s Iron Fist premieres on Netflix on March 17.

Jones will then reprise the role for Marvel’s the Defenders, which teams Iron Fist up with Marvel Television’s other Netflix stars: Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter).
