Staff Picks
For this ranking in particular it seemed something different was in order, so before we get to the countdown here's a sampling of the favorite Spider-Man costumes from the ComicBook.com home office.
Jim Viscardi: Future Foundation is the favorite (though I do have a soft spot for Spider-Man 2099).
Jamie Lovett: I always like Ben Reilly's costume during his time as Spider-Man.
Riley Hutchins: Spider-Man 2099 all the way!
Lucas Siegal: That's a tough call. I really like 2099, and I really like the Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume.
Megan Peters: Probably Miles Morales. That black and red costume looks amazing.
Brandon Davis: Civil War Duh.
Charlie Ridgely: Ultimate Miles Morales all the way.
Dallas Jackson: Um, clearly, classic outfit.
Jeff Bell: (holds up classic Spider-Man figure) Classic!
Spider-Man 2099 and the classic costume got a lot of love from the home office. Hit the next slide to see which costumes made the list!
prevnextMiles Morales Spider-Man
This was a tough battle with Superior Spider-Man for the final spot, as both utilize the black and red color scheme to great effect.
What put Miles over the to is the red accent lines over the all black suit. It gives the costume a modern edge that looks amazing in action sequences and makes it pop off the page. It makes you wonder how long it will take to get this costume up on the big screen because this will look just as good in theaters as it will on the comic page.
prevnextScarlet Spider
While the Clone Saga isn't exactly remembered fondly, it did bring comic fans the delightful Ben Reilly, who use to moonlight as the Scarlet Spider.
The costume was straight 90's in many ways, with the sleeveless blue hoodie, big white eyes on the mask, and angled spider logo. Still, even though many aren't fans of the storyline from which he originated, fans have taken a liking to the suit, which for some reason just works.
Sometimes things just work out in weird ways.
prevnextSpider-Man: Homecoming
Tom Holland is the latest to suit up as Marvel's legendary wall-crawler, and in his upcoming film Spider-Man: Homecoming, he'll be getting a few tweaks since fans lost saw him in Captain America: Civil War.
The suit is differentiated mostly due to its modern black lines that outline the torso and shoulders. The symbol is much smaller than the current version, closer to Steve Ditko's classic rendition, and there are some modern tweaks to the belt.
Depending on how things go in Homecoming, this suit could easily contend for the top spot, but as for now, it's not quite there yet.
prevnextClassic Red And Blue
It might surprise you that this isn't number one, and frankly, it was a tough decision.
This is the look that most people ultimately know him by, and will forever be linked to the character, regardless of how many movies and TV shows he stars in.
The classic red and blue has seen many variations over the years, but this suit always serves as the foundation, and frankly always will. When you think of Spider-Man, you'll most likely think of this.
prevnextAmazing Spider-Man 2
If you read the previous slide, you know that the classic red and blue comic costume is the suit on which all others are based. That includes the suit seen in Amazing Spider-Man 2, which brings everything you would want together in one costume.
Classic color scheme with modern textures and lines? Check. Big McFarlane style eyes? Check again. Stylish spider-symbol? Check trifecta, and to top it all off the costume looks absolutely stunning on screen.
This suit managed to take the just about perfect classic costume and dial it up one more notch, and that's why it's at the top of this list.
