In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tony Stark may be something of a mentor for young Peter Parker, but the film's star Tom Holland has his own ideas on which Avenger he thinks would be the perfect mentor for the web-slinging crime fighter.
In IMDb on the Scene, Holland answers fan questions about his role as Spider-Man and about his life in general. On fan wanted to know that if Holland could choose another Avenger as a mentor, who would it be?
Holland answered without hesitation that his choice for Spidey's mentor would be none other than Captain America.
"Captain America. He would be the best mentor, I think," Holland said. "He'd be kind of boring. He could be very strict, I think, whereas Tony'd be more freeing. Yeah."
In the film, which takes place immediately following the battle at the airport in Germany during Captain America: Civil War, Tony Stark has dismissed Peter, telling him that he's not yet ready to be an Avenger. This leaves Parker to his own devices dealing the crime on the streets of Queens so it makes sense that Holland thinks Captain America might make a better mentor for Spider-Man.
In the clip fans also ask Holland what it was like to work with Robert Downey, Jr. Holland had only praise for his legendary co-star.
"Awesome. He is a dream come true. He's everything you'd hope him to be," Holland said.
