Marvel to Reveal Thanos' Dark Past in 'Thanos Annual'

Marvel Comics has announced plans to reveals all of Thanos' dark secrets in Thanos Annual #1 this April.

The history of Marvel's Mad Titan will be told through the lens of the Cosmic Ghost Rider who serves the future, victorious Thanos.

The Thanos ongoing series team of writer Donny Cates and artist Geoff Shaw will provide the Annual's core story. Kieron Gillen, Al Ewing, Ryan North, Christopher Hastings, Katie Cook, and Frazer Irving will also contribute to the issue.

"In issue #15 of Thanos, we see the Rider get a look into Thanos's mind. In this annual, he tells us about some of the horrors he found in the dark corners of it," series editor Jordan D. White teased in a press release. "Donny is, of course, contributing, and we're both pumped about the TWISTED stories that folks have been pitching in for the Mad Titan."

Cates added, "I am so excited to delve further into the Mad Titan and his Cosmic Ghost Rider...friend, and this Annual is a murderer's row of talent that is not to be missed! Come and explore the worst deeds Thanos has ever performed...but uh...don't plan on sleeping anytime soon!"

In a previous issue of Thanos, Thanos was shown undergoing the Ghost Rider's penance stare. Where the penance stare has a crippling, if not fatal, effect on most of its victims, Thanos seemed to enjoy the experience.

Ghost Rider's penance stare forces his target to relive all of their darkest deeds and thoughts. Thanos may have enjoyed that dark trip down memory lane, but his darkest deeds are sure to terrify most mortals. Having seen them for himself, the Cosmic Ghost Rider will relate the tale to readers in the Thanos Annual.

Meanwhile, in the pages of the Thanos ongoing series, the Mad Titan is preparing for an epic showdown with the Fallen One, only it isn't the Fallen One he was expecting.

Thanos Annual #1 goes on sale April 25th.
