Putting on the Spider-Man costume might not be as glamorous as some fans may have thought. For Tom Holland, it took some getting used to.
While making the rounds promoting the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the 20-year-old actor has revealed a lot about his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of those details include a planned Spider-Man movie trilogy or his role in Avengers: Infinity War but, now, we might have officially gotten too much information. Holland had to wear a thong for underwear on set.
"All I have on under that costume is a thong," Holland said. "They brought them in on my first day, like, 'Here are your thongs.'"
It was a concerning first couple of days on set for the actor. "I had serious misgivings -- 'Would my arsehole ever be the same again?' -- but I had to get used to it, even though I was thinking, 'No way, no way!'" Holland added.
"You have to completely disrobe and then put a dressing gown on, but they're very comfy ones, you can't walk around in just a thong, can you imagine?" Holland said. "And then you race across the lot to the toilet, then come back, get back into it -- it's such a mission."
By the end of production, Holland must have come around to the Spider-Man costume as his performance is one of the highlights of an already beloved Homecoming film. "Holland brings an impressive balance of the heroic, charming Spider-Man and awkward teenage Peter who struggles to get the girl," ComicBook.com said of the actor in its official Spider-Man: Homecoming review.
