Dave Bautista knows a thing or two about being in a James Bond movie.

The actor who is currently starring in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (which is basically taking over the world with its box office numbers) as Drax the Destroyer appeared in Daniel Craig‘s most recent Bond film Spectre. With Craig’s run possibly coming to an end as the British secret agent, Bautista has an idea in mind for who can step in.
The man who once tried to kill Bond as Mr. Hinx has a few suggestions in mind but ultimately manages to make a decision on who he thinks can save the world in a nice suit for Bond 25 while speaking to PopBuzz.
“It’s really hard for me to answer that because I’d hate to see anybody else as James Bond right now,” Bautista said. “I think he’s brilliant. I think he’s the best Bond since Sean Connery, (no offense Pierce [Brosnan], I love you, man). It’s really hard but I think there’s been talks of Idris [Elba], I think that’d be really interesting. Tom Hardy, I think that’d also be interesting. Fassbender, I think that’d be my first choice, I think Michael Fassender.”
Fassbender, a fair choice, is an interesting one from Bautista. The wrestler turned actor has never shared the screen with the man burdened with the role of Magneto in the new run of X-Men films, so it is a response purely based on being a fan — which is often the best kind.
In fact, Bautista has not worked with any of the three names he dropped in the interview in theaters October 6, 2017.
Bautista’s current role as Drax has turned him into a fan-favorite actor and character as he trots around the galaxy with his band of misfit heroes to take on an all new cosmic threat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The belly-laughing green-skinned hero who can only speak in literal terms is a far cry from his role in Spectre, which saw him speak only one word through its entire running time.
Next up for Bautista is Blade Runner 2049, where he will play a yet to be named character.
