Captain America Chris Evans Reacts To Trump Presidency Win

There are moments in your life that become etched in your memory, where you'll likely recall the exact time, date, and feeling you had upon learning of a particular event or happening. For many, one of those will most certainly be the election of our 45th President of the United States Donald Trump, and reactions to that news came in swiftly across social media, including from all corners of the geek and superhero world.

One of those voices was Captain America himself, Chris Evans, who plays the star spangled Avenger in Marvel's cinematic universe. After the news was announced that Trump had taken the election, Evans let his opinion be known on Twitter.

"This is an embarrassing night for America. We've let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We've let a bully set our course. I'm devastated."

As has become the norm since this election first started, it led to some differing opinions on social media, ranging from a variety of hand clapping emoji's and virtual nods in agreement to criticism that this time Captain America was on the wrong side, and even photoshopped versions of the character with Trump's head. Needless to say it it drew some reactions.

It's not like his viewpoint hasn't been known for some time, as Evans has frequently supported Hillary Clinton throughout her campaign, like when he posted his reactions to one of their, let's call it spirited debates.

"Last night I watched @HillaryClinton display everything I expect out of the POTUS. Donald displayed everything I expect out of a 5th grader."

It's essentially a microcosm of this entire election, but earlier today Evans posted a tweet meant to inspire and unite, saying: "No more fear. Only hopeful optimism. I gonna let love be my guide. All my energy will now go towards protecting the rights of ALL Americans."

Regardless of where you stand politically, and whether you look at the decision as a misguided mistake or a step forward, it's your job to stand for what you believe in, no matter who is in power. Evans echoed that in his comments, but it's hard to argue with who really said it best, Captain America himself.
