For most actors, being part of the Arrowverse is a badge of honor. Visiting any comic book convention in the United States will provide the chance to meet at least one actor from The CW’s superhero shows, who is usually more than happy to reminisce about the glory days. However, while getting the chance to fight crime alongside the Green Arrow and The Flash is sure to be a highlight for some, there are some performers who don’t want that time in their lives to define them. Brandon Routh, for example, continues to work, making a name for himself by delivering standout performances on shows like The Rookie.

On the flip side, some actors would probably prefer their time in the Arrowverse become nothing but a footnote in a long and successful career. It’s not working out that way for most, but there are a few notable exceptions. Here are seven actors who were in the Arrowverse before they were famous.
7) Joey King

The Flash runs into his fair share of metahumans in his solo show, including Frankie Kane, aka Magenta, played by Joey King. Controlling metal makes Magenta an interesting matchup for the Scarlet Speedster, but she doesn’t stick around for long. Despite only getting a cup of coffee in the Arrowverse, King has become one of the rising stars in Hollywood, appearing in big-budget movies, such as Bullet Train and Despicable Me 4.
6) Dichen Lachman

Humans on Earth-38 don’t treat their alien neighbors with very much respect. Veronica Sinclair, aka Roulette, runs an alien fighting ring and even involves herself in a human trafficking scheme in Supergirl. Fortunately, the actress behind the villain, Dichen Lachman, gets to play a much more pleasant character in Apple TV+’s Severance.
5) Cynthia Addai-Robinson

Oliver Queen has numerous run-ins with A.R.G.U.S. in the early seasons of Arrow, and none of them are pleasant because of the organization’s director, Amanda Waller. Cynthia Addai-Robinson shows off the many sides of Waller’s before the character’s untimely death. These days, Addai-Robinson is best known for playing Tar-Mรญriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Agent Marybeth Medina in The Accountant 2.
4) Josh Segarra

The Green Arrow makes plenty of enemies, but the one who grinds his gears the most is Adrian Chase, aka Prometheus. Josh Segarra delivers a masterful performance as the deranged villain, tormenting the Arrowverse’s biggest hero for an entire season. While Prometheus might be dead and gone, Segarra’s career very much isn’t, as he’s been showing up in big movies, such as Friendship and Scream VI.
3) Robbie Amell

Team Flash is a little bit stronger in its early days due to the presence of Ronnie Raymond, aka Firestorm. Stephen Amell’s cousin, Robbie Amell, brings the character to life for several episodes before the hero loses his life at the end of Season 1 while stopping the Singularity. Amell isn’t going anywhere, though, playing the lead role in Prime Video’s Upload and showing up in a couple of episodes of The Witcher.
2) Shantel VanSanten

For a time, Barry Allen and Iris West can’t get on the same page, so they date other people despite having feelings for one another. Barry finds himself seeing Patty Spivot, played by Shanetel VanSanten, in Season 2, but things don’t work out because he refuses to tell her his secret. After leaving The Flash, VanSanten has gone on to play a prominent role in Prime Video’s The Boys and Apple TV+’s For All Mankind.
1) Janina Gavankar

Like his friend Barry, Oliver also dates a few people before finding his partner for life, Felicity Smoak. Janina Gavankar’s Detective McKenna Hall shows up in Season 1 and proves to be a solid cop in addition to a great girlfriend. Unfortunately, getting shot forces her to give up her career and move. Gavankar hasn’t had to give up on her dreams, appearing in several episodes of Apple TV+’s hit series The Morning Show and voicing fan-favorite character Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront II.
The Arrowverse shows are streaming on Netflix.
