Every New Movie and TV Show Hitting Streaming Services This Weekend (September 5th)

The weekend has arrived, and a lot of us are going to want to spent at least a little time over the next couple of days getting cozy on the couch and watching something on TV. If you’re like me, and already thinking about what movie or show might be in your plans on Friday or Saturday night, you’ve probably spent some time wondering what new options await on your streaming service-of-choice. Well, wonder no more, because this right here is the full list of the weekend’s new streaming additions.

Below, you’ll find the list of new movies and shows that have been or are being added to services like Netflix, Peacock, HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, Paramount+, Prime Video, and Apple TV+ over the course of the weekend. Since there were a couple big additions on Thursday, let’s just pretend this is another four-day weekend and count Thursday-Sunday.

If you’re looking for a new TV show, The Paper is going to be the title you want to give your attention to. This is especially true for fans of The Office (or any great sitcom, really). Peacock debuted all 10 episodes of this Office spinoff on Thursday, giving TV fans a perfect weekend binge to enjoy. It’s a hilarious and heartwarming series that definitely brings the vibes of The Office, but easily stands on its own. This will likely be the most popular TV title of the weekend, so there’s the added bonus of being able to chat with your friends and social media mutuals about it.

Friday is a big day for movies in the world of streaming, with a couple of big premieres all hitting at once. Friendship, the darkly hysterical A24 comedy starring Tim Robinson, made its streaming debut on HBO Max, while Apple TV+ delivered the newest Spike Lee & Denzel Washington collaboration, Highest 2 Lowest.

And if you’re into indie horror movies that weaponize your favorite childhood characters for dark thrills, the Poohniverse is back on streaming with a new entry. Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare just made its streaming debut on Peacock, and it is without a doubt the strongest entry in the Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey connected universe.
