It’s that time again has Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has officially cancelled yet another of its major 2026 debuts, and this one had only been around for six months. Although there have been a number of notable cancellations in the magazine for the year thus far, 2026 has been a much stronger year overall than seen with last year. A number of series have wrapped over the past eight months, but more of them have actually been long running series coming to their respective natural ends instead of being cancelled.

But unfortunately the axe has come down on another promising series within the pages of Shonen Jump as Kento Amemiya’s Kinato’s Magic has officially come to an end with the magazine with the latest chapter of the series. With only six months of serialization and 28 chapters under its belt, the final chapter of Kinato’s Magic sees the creator say a short goodbye to their second major effort following a previous cancellation with the magazine prior.
Kinato’s Magic Officially Cancelled With Shonen Jump After 28 Chapters

Kinato’s Magic made a strong debut with Shonen Jump earlier this February, but unfortunately was unable to maintain that momentum as the series continued. It seemed to be making progress as it was able to outlast its 20 chapter mark and even got into a training arc, but unfortunately the signs began to show in the last few weeks that a cancellation was coming quickly. Especially as the series started to speed through what seemed to be a massive battle much more speedily than fans would have hoped for.
Coupled with the speedy end of the manga was the fact that it wasn’t doing too well with its physical volume sales in Japan. And that’s usually the death knell for a series despite how well it might be doing outside of Japan with fans. That was the case here as with the final chapter wrapping up its final loose ends, Kinato ends things as best as he can while he teases he’s about to head out on a much bigger journey that fans will never get to see come to pass. It’s certainly a bittersweet end for it all.
What’s Next for Shonen Jump in 2026?

Shonen Jump has now officially ended 11 major titles within the magazine through the year so far, but only seven of them have been series cut short by cancellations. These are better odds for the magazine than last year as the remaining four have been long running series coming to their end instead. The breakdown of series that have ended with the magazine in 2026 is as such:
- Otr of the Flame
- Harukaze Mound
- Gonron Egg
- The Mage Next Door
- Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits
- Alien Headbutt
- Kinato’s Magic
- Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
- The Elusive Samurai
- Blue Box
- Hima-ten!
Not only have more long running titles confirmed they are coming to an end in the near future like Sakamoto Days and Witch Watch, but this cancellation means there are more new series set to make their debuts in the coming weeks. As Shonen Jump ends its Summer months and heads into the Fall, there are going to be even more changes as these series shuffle in and out soon. Hopefully the next major hit is on the horizon, and won’t be cancelled shortly into its run.
