The Bleach anime has finally come to an end 22 years after its inception, fulfilling the dreams of fans who have long wanted to see the series reach a satisfying conclusion. The anime’s original run of 366 episodes ended in 2012, but the manga continued until its conclusion in 2016, when fans began demanding an anime adaptation of the final arc. Their wish came true with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, which premiered in October 2022. Four years and 50 episodes later, this installment has also come to an end, marking the conclusion of one of the biggest shonen anime series of all time.

Bleach‘s ending couldn’t have been more perfect, bringing the epic battle against Yhwach to a satisfying conclusion. Ichigo’s final blow, made possible by the crucial elements Yhwach had affected and the combined efforts needed to defeat him, reinforced the idea that unity and collective strength can overcome evil. The series finale then took a step back, depicting the heroes’ lives ten years after Yhwach’s defeat. While everything was as happy as it could be, the series also offered a glimpse of the next generation, laying the foundation for the story to continue.
Bleach Ends With Major Possibilities for the Next Generation

Though the series finale depicted all the happiness fans could have hoped for, it also revealed that remnants of Yhwach’s powers remained. Amid the celebrations, including Rukia receiving the title of captain, the lingering presence of Yhwach’s power suggested that something was still to come. However, the threat was immediately dismissed by none other than Ichigo and Orihime’s son, Kazui. In a surprising reveal, Ichigo’s son was shown to be a Soul Reaper, and the ease with which he eliminated the threat implied that, much like his father, he was special and incredibly powerful. Meanwhile, another element laying the foundation for the future is Rukia and Renji’s daughter, Ichika Abarai.
Ichika’s encounter with Kazui feels like another fateful meeting, reminiscent of the first encounter between Rukia and Ichigo in the series’ opening episode. This suggests the possibility of a new generation with fresh threats and storylines for Bleach to explore. Much like Naruto, which introduced a sequel featuring Naruto’s son as its protagonist, Bleach could follow a similar path. Considering both are among the biggest shonen franchises of all time, Bleach could explore the same approach. Even if a sequel has not been confirmed, the anime series could still expand in other ways.
One possibility lies in a one-shot that author Tite Kubo released in 2021, which introduced the Hell arc. The story featured an intriguing event in which characters such as Yamamoto, Unohana, and Ukitake were trapped in Hell because of a specific ritual. As this arc comes next chronologically, and recent changes in the anime have also hinted at it, there are more than enough reasons to believe this story could come to life as well. Announcements about the franchise’s future and what lies ahead could also arrive soon at Jump Festa 2027.
Bleach‘s Future Will Be Unveiled Very Soon

Shonen Jump’s biggest event of the year, Jump Festa, will take place on December 19โ20. The Bleach anime has secured a special spot at the event, with a Jump Stage scheduled for December 20. Considering that the anime has only recently concluded, the fact that Bleach is still getting a stage is a big deal. The event often discusses the future of franchises, meaning there is more than a chance that something new for the series could be announced. Meanwhile, another event is also coming next year.
BLEACH FES is a two-day event celebrating the end of the TV anime series, scheduled for February 27โ28, 2027. If Jump Festa isn’t where fans receive new information, this second event could certainly be the place. As for what could actually be unveiled, whether a sequel or something else, it is still difficult to say. Perhaps Bleach could follow the modern trend of adapting its Hell arc one-shot into a movie, much like other major franchises have done in recent years. The revival of Bleach through Thousand-Year Blood War has been one of the franchise’s biggest achievements, and there is reason to believe the anime could expand with a movie or sequel soon. For now, fans will have to wait patiently for these major events.
