Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake’s Season 2 Preview Reveals Returning Character

While Finn and Jake’s adventures in Adventure Time might have ended with a quite conclusive finale, Fionna and Cake’s journey is still marching forward. Following the first season that chronicled the titular characters hopping the multiverse, many animation enthusiasts wondered where the next chapter for the Land of Ooooo visitors would take them next. Luckily, a new preview for Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake’s second season has arrived, not just confirming the return of the Huntress Wizard, but also confirming another fan-favorite character will be making a comeback.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake released a new description for season two, confirming that Simon Petrikov will be returning to round out the original trio, “Fionna and Cake keeping in touch with Simon Petrikov must team up with Huntress Wizard for a quest to save Ooo’s favorite hero.” Simon, for those who might need a refresher, was formerly the villainous Ice King, but was eventually able to break free from the crown’s influence. Unfortunately for Simon, this fact didn’t mean that he was able to live happily ever after, as even regaining his sanity wasn’t a cure-all for his problems. Petrikov found himself alone in the Land of Ooooo, but was given a new lease on life thanks to Fionna and Cake.

Fionna And Cake’s Different Second Season

Warner Bros

While Adventure Time: Fionna And Cake’s second season might once again highlight the multiverse, the creators of the upcoming series are planning to stick with Fionna’s home universe this time around. As we witnessed in the first season, Fionna comes from a world very much like our own as she attempted to survive in the big city with random jobs. Fionna’s world is populated with bizarre reflections of some of Ooooo’s most popular characters, all human for this universe.

Earlier this year, showrunner Adam Muto discussed the upcoming second season, which has yet to reveal a release date, “This time, we wanted to keep most of the adventures in Fiona’s world and I thought that would make it more normal, but it’s still pretty strange. And that’s kind of baked into ‘Adventure Time’ DNA.”

Fans can expect more major reveals next month during New York Comic Con, with the convention releasing a description for the Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake panel, “Take your nearest subway, taxi, or multiversal portal to the Javits Center cause Adventure Time is returning to New York Comic Con! Join executive producer and showrunner Adam Muto along with voice cast members Madeleine Martin, Roz Ryan, and Ashly Burch for an exclusive sneak peek at the multiversal adventures that await in season 2 of the HBO Max Original series from Cartoon Network Studios, “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake.”

Luckily, Fionna and Cake’s upcoming comeback isn’t the only place we can expect Adventure Time to return. So far, Warner Bros has been working on the likes of Adventure Time: Side Quests, Adventure Time: Heyo B-Mo, and even an upcoming movie to expand on the universe.
