Cartoon Network Landmark Will Close Forever (So You’d Better Act Fast)

Cartoon Network has become one of the premier destinations on cable television for viewing some of the biggest original animated properties. Throughout its history, the Warner Bros-owned network has helped usher in major platforms like Adult Swim and Toonami, while introducing countless viewers to franchises like Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and too many other heavy hitters to count. Unfortunately, while the cable network is still excelling, a real-world landmark is preparing to close its doors. Luckily, you still have some time if you’re looking to visit a piece of Cartoon Network history.

The “Cartoon Network Hotel” first opened its doors in 2020, sporting over one hundred and fifty rooms that were all devoted to the Warner Bros platform. On top of the hotel’s decorations based on the cable network, the locale focused on merchandise, costumed characters, arcades, and more. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that the Cartoon Network Hotel will be rebranded to the “Dutch Wonderland,” meaning that no hint of the cable network will be found beginning on January 1st of next year. In an interview with ABC, Dutch Wonderland’s General Manager, Megan Hartman, spoke about the upcoming change that will go into effect in 2026 when the hotel re-opens in March.

“When our team sat down to make plans for the Dutch Wonderland Inn, we focused on how we could bring the magic of our park to life while also providing overnight accommodations for our guests. The newly renovated Inn brings pieces of our beloved park, Pennsylvania Dutch Country, and the characters our visitors know and love together to create a unique experience for families looking to extend their visit to the Lancaster region.”

Cartoon Network’s Past And Future

This news of the Cartoon Network hotel comes at an ironic time, as it has been thirty-three years as of today since the cable network first launched on the small screen. In that time, the Warner Bros platform has expanded the world of animation in countless ways. One of the biggest remains the launch of Adult Swim, the mature-themed programming block that has remained a major fixture on television thanks to original series like Rick & Morty, The Smiling Friends, Primal, and more.

As for the future of Cartoon Network, that’s anyone’s guess as streaming continues to be a big part of the entertainment world, dealing several blows to the cable television landscape. Luckily, the Warner Bros channel has routinely worked hand-in-hand with streaming services like HBO Max and Hulu when offering viewers different ways to view some of their biggest franchises. In terms of what Cartoon Network has cooking at the moment? The cable network has once again entered the spooky season with another “Scoobtober,” an ongoing event focusing on the Scooby-Doo franchise across its many series and movies. Despite the Cartoon Network Hotel closing, fingers crossed that we might see the platform find other ways to be a part of the real world in the days to come.
