One classic creator from the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is returning with a brand new story ten years after their previous series came to an end. Shonen Jump is getting ready for a brand new year, and the magazine has been going through a new transitional phase. 2025 saw a number of major entries cancelled over the course of the year, and a number of other long running hits reached their respective ends. But now there’s a whole new wave of endings coming in 2026 as well.

Shonen Jump will be ending even more long running projects with the new year, but that also means that there are going to be many other projects hoping to have their chance at success. With new one-shot stories on the way hoping to catch fans’ attention and get a full serialization, one of the new stories announced (as spotted by @WSJ_manga on X) is actually from the same creator behind Nisekoi: False Love, who hasn’t had a full series since that romcom ended back in 2016.
Nisekoi’s Creator Returns to Shonen Jump After 10 Years
Naoshi Komi will be returning to the pages of Shonen Jump with a new one-shot titled “Iikagen Kizuke.” The one-shot will be featured in a new issue of the magazine coming this January, and that will mark ten years since the creator has featured a full series with the magazine. While Komi has had a couple of smaller projects across Shueisha in the decade since, none of them have been as impactful or as long running as Nisekoi: False Love. But there’s a chance that this one-shot will have a better chance at that.
The English licensed title for the one-shot has yet to be revealed as of this time, nor has it been revealed it will be available internationally, but it’s teased as a “love song romantic comedy.” Given the massive success of Nisekoi, there’s a chance that a romcom would fit in perfectly with the current generation of Shonen Jump. There are other quiet hits like Hima-Ten! and Blue Box scratching that itch so far, but there’s going to be much more room opening up in 2026 for different types of series.
You Should Check Out Nisekoi

Created by Naoshi Komi in 2011 and ending its run in 2016, Nisekoi: False Love isn’t really one of the first series that fans bring up when it comes to Shonen Jump’s biggest classics. A lot of that is due to the fact that it had a relatively short anime run compared to some of its neighboring hits at the time like My Hero Academia that came shortly after, but much of that is because it’s a romantic comedy. Though Shonen Jump has had plenty of these stories, they just aren’t brought up in the same conversations as the pure action hits.
But Nisekoi was different from the rest. It was a series that quickly introduced fans to a potential main couple who were likely destined to marry at the end of it all, but came from two different Yakuza families. Things got more complicated as is the case with these series with all sorts of other heroines in the mix, but it ended in a sweet way like the best romances in the magazines. It’s just tough to revisit because the anime is no longer available for streaming.
