Cowboy Bebop fans loved the opening sequence for Netflix’s new live-action adaptation! When it was first announced that the classic Sunrise anime project would be getting a new live-action series with Netflix, anime fans were cautiously optimistic to see how it would all shake out. Not only is the original series still held in high regard by many, but that’s compounded with the complicated history of live-action anime adaptations in the West. As part of the TUDUM Live Global Fan Event, Netflix debuted the opening sequence for the new Cowboy Bebop series. This was our first look at the new series in motion following the debut of cast photos and photos of some of the biggest scenes, but the most surprising aspect of the opening theme sequence was that it closely modeled itself after the original anime. It even went as far as using the original opening theme song, “Tank!” as composed by Yoko Kanno and performed by the Seatbelts.ย
Seeing the live-action adaptation model its opening theme sequence so closely to the original while introducing some new elements of its own seems to convey the type of vibe this new take on the franchise is going for, and fans are all in.
