My Dress-Up Darling Gets the Perfect R-Rated Merch for Season 2

Between its heartfelt romance, My Dress-Up Darling features some raunchy moments, including fan service, vague references to more adult anime, and plenty of lewd jokes. But, one of the funniest R-rated moments from Season 2 — which is currently being released weekly on Crunchyroll — has just been turned into merch! That’s right, you can now wear your unadulterated love for Marin and Gojo on your chest, literally, not just proverbially. My Dress-Up Darling already has some great merch, but this new item of clothing perfectly sums up the show’s ongoing second season.

The Japanese anime merchandise company, Movic, has revealed its newest My Dress-Up Darling tie-in clothing, and it’s perfect. The hoodie is a replica of the one Gojo is given by Marin when he stays the night for the first time. Those who watched the scene will remember that the very conservative and introverted Gojo is given a hoodie depicting the R-rated ahegao character, Shizuku Kuroe, whom Marin is deeply in love with. Labeled with the words, “I ♥ Nurujyo,” the printed design is a replica of the one Gojo wears in the scene. The hoodie is currently available for pre-order for 7,150 yen (around $48). You can purchase the hoodie HERE.

My Dress-Up Darling’s New Merch References Season 2’s Best Episode

As well as showcasing the passion for cosplay, My Dress-Up Darling has always been about the individual growth of its leading characters, Marin and Gojo, and the romance that forms between the pair. Season 2 has slowed down on the romance to put more of a focus on the cosplay. But the episode in which Gojo wears the ill-willed hoodie is arguably the best in the season, at least from romance fans’ perspectives.

The scene includes one of the various miscommunications that befall an anime romance plot, with Marin believing that Gojo intends to sleep with her that night, while Gojo buys an energy drink so he can stay up all night and play video games, so that it doesn’t count as a sleepover. After having a bath, Gojo is given the above hoodie by Marin to wear during the sleepover/not-sleepover. The juxtaposition between Gojo’s natural temperament and the hoodie’s design is funny enough. But, when that’s added with the misunderstanding in the scene, with Marin believing Gojo has sexual intentions while also wearing a sexualized hoodie, the funny moment becomes absolutely hilarious, and perfectly sums up why audiences love the pair.

Season 2 of My Dress-Up Darling is currently airing on Crunchyroll.
