Most fans of the Flash know that the Scarlet Speedster will not be out of the race for long, but the character’s absence will propel Iris West to take on a more proactive role with the team.
And when Barry Allen eventually does make it out of the Speed Force, actor Candice Patton wants to see their relationship continue to grow as it has over the course of the show.
The cast of the Flash spoke with ComicBook.com about the new season during San Diego Comic-Con and were asked to tease some of the future developments with there characters. Check it out in the clip above!
“Hopefully a wedding,” Patton said. “Hopefully there’s marriage bells for Barry and Iris if we can get him out of the Speed Force.”
Barry and Iris got engaged in Season 3 while dealing with the threat of Savitar and the prophecy of Iris’ death being unavoidable. While they defeated the evil speedster and changed Iris' fate, they could not fulfill their vows due to Barry Allen replacing Jay Garrick within the Speed Force’s prison.
While it’s pretty obvious that Barry will not be trapped in there for long, it won’t be easy and who knows what will change for the character when he finally does get out. There will likely be plenty of issues for Team Flash to deal with and the impending nuptials might have to hit the back burner.
The Flash's fourth season premieres on The CW on Tuesday, October 10th, at 8/7c.
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark-matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive — The Flash.
But when Barry used his extraordinary abilities to travel back in time and save his mother’s life, he inadvertently created an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint; a phenomenon that gave birth to the villainous speed god known as Savitar, and changed the lives of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) forever.
With the help of his adoptive father, Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), his lifelong best friend and love interest Iris West (Candice Patton), and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs — Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), C.S.I Julian Albert (Tom Felton), and an Earth-19 novelist named H.R. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) — Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it.0comments
