Dungeons & Dragons Fans Can Play The Newest D&D Video Game Very Soon

It’s been a few years since the release of Baldur’s Gate 3, and fans are starting to look ahead to the next big Dungeons & Dragons video game. While we still have no confirmation of a Baldur’s Gate 4 or another straightforward RPG adaptation, there is a new D&D video game headed our way in the near future. Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked was announced earlier this year. Now, gamers are about to experience it for the very first time.

This new D&D strategy game works to bring players together to embark on epic quests. Using the Demeo Action Roleplaying system, the game offers fast-paced, turn-based action that goes above and beyond a more straightforward virtual tabletop. Another enticing component of Battlemarked is the DM-free system that lets everyone join in on the adventure, no prep required. And today, Resolution Games has announced that the game’s first-ever demo will go live during Steam Next Fest, starting on October 13th.

What to Expect from the First Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked Demo

Steam Next Fest is an exciting event chock full of shiny new demos for gamers to check out. The event runs from October 13th to October 20th, and the Battlemarked demo will be available for the duration. This means that D&D fans will be able to check out some of what the game has to offer, entirely for free. And if you’re not convinced by “new D&D video game” alone, there’s a brand-new trailer to celebrate the demo and show off more of what Battlemarked has to offer:

If that gameplay trailer has you curious to dive in, here’s what we know about the Steam Next Fest demo so far. The Battlemarked demo will feature “fragments of two perilous quests” that come from the first campaign in Battlemarked. So, it won’t be a full story, but should give a solid representative sample of the storytelling that the game will have on offer. Similarly, not every character will be available in the demo. Players will be able to choose from four different character options in this D&D demo:

  • Bolthrax – a dragonborn paladin with a temper
  • Tibby – a halfing sorcerer
  • Jessic – a human ranger with a vengeance
  • Ash – a tiefling rogue with a checkered past

At launch, the game will have a total of six playable characters, so there’s more to look forward to if you like the demo. The game’s multiplayer action will be on display during Steam Next Fest, with the option to party up with up to three of your friends to explore the Neverwinter Wood.

Along with getting a first look at the game, Resolution Games and Wizards of the Coast are sweetening the deal. Anyone who fully completes the two demo scenarios will get some exclusive Battlemarked freebies at launch. Specifically, playing through the full demo unlocks two special skins for the game’s D20s.

Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked will release on November 20th, 2025. It will be available on PC via Steam, PS5, and MetaQuest. The Steam Next Fest demo will be available from October 13th to 20th, exclusively for PC.
