New Silent Hill Remake Just Hit an Important Development Milestone

Konami’s upcoming remake of the original Silent Hill just reached a very important development milestone. Just a few months back, Konami announced that it would again be partnering with developer Bloober Team to create a remake of the first Silent Hill game. At the time of this announcement, Konami didn’t say much about the project, but subsequent reports suggested that the remake could be closer to release than anticipated. Now, in the wake of new information coming about, it seems that this previous report could be accurate.

Announced today by Bloober Team, the company revealed in a call with investors that its Silent Hill remake has entered full production. If you’re unfamiliar with what this means, it’s simply that the project has exited pre-production, which is typically where initial artwork, scripts, and other plans are outlined. Full production is where games truly begin to come to life and end up becoming playable in-engine. This shift from pre-production to full production is one of the most important milestones a game can pass, which means that Silent Hill is only now truly becoming a larger focus of Bloober Team.

When Could the Silent Hill 1 Remake Release?

Silent Hill 1 Remake

While it’s great to know that Bloober Team is now fully focusing on remaking Silent Hill, we’re likely still a couple of years away from seeing it hit store shelves. The aforementioned report regarding Silent Hill’s release date claimed that the game is currently slated to drop at some point in 2027. Knowing that production has now started, this launch window would line up as development for remakes like this typically takes anywhere from two to three years.

In my own opinion, I anticipate seeing this new version of Silent Hill for the first time in 2026. This initial reveal trailer should be followed by subsequent announcements that would then lead up to the game’s eventual launch in 2027. This is the same pattern that 2024’s remake of Silent Hill 2 followed up to its own release, so there’s reason to believe that Bloober Team and Konami will deviate from this promotional strategy. Regardless of when we see this Silent Hill 1 remake for the first time, though, hopefully, it ends up reaching the expectations that fans have for it.
