Pokemon TCG Pocket Reveals New Limited-Time Deluxe Pack: ex That Boosts Odds on Rare Cards

Since Pokemon TCG Pocket first released, the pace for adding new cards has been brisk. With a new booster set dropping just about every month, many fans have struggled to keep up with the struggle to collect ’em all. Though that pace shows no signs of slowing down, Pokemon TCG Pocket has now unveiled a new kind of booster pack that just might help players catch up. The new Deluxe Pack: ex is headed to the game very soon, and it’s different from prior releases.

On September 25th, Pokemon TCG Pocket announced a new Deluxe Pack: ex booster pack. This special booster will release on September 29th, but unlike other new releases, it’s not staying around for long. Deluxe Pack: ex will only be available until October 29th. Along with this new expiration date, the contents of this special booster will be unlike any we’ve seen in the game so far. Instead of adding new cards, this Deluxe Pack: ex will bring back cards released in previous packs, including all 4 Diamond rarity cards. Let’s dig into the details so you know what to expect from this new limited-time set when it arrives in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

New Pokemon TCG Pocket Deluxe Pack: ex Features Guaranteed 4 Diamond Rarity & New Designs for Existing Cards

This special booster is limited for a reason. Each Deluxe Pack: ex booster will guarantee at least one card with a rarity of 4 Diamond or higher. These cards will come from prior packs, starting with Genetic Apex and up through Wisdom of Sea and Sky. Every 4 Diamond rarity card from those prior packs will be included, makaing it a great opportunity to fill in some gaps in your collection.

While the pack will include largely rare and highly sought-after cards from prior decks, it will also bring in a few new designs. Specifically, Deluxe Pack: ex will add new parallel foil designs and brand-new illustrations for a few select favorite cards. From the trailer, the new designs look to include Pikachu ex, Arceus ex, Solgaleo ex, and Buzzwole ex. The packs will also feature several other ex cards from prior sets, as the name implies, including a few with new reverse foil designs.

Although this first Deluxe Pack: ex release is limited, the fine print in the trailer is a hint at what’s to come. The note reads “Deluxe Pack: ex booster packs will be available again in the future.” So, it seems that this is a new kind of pack from Pokemon TCG Pocket going forward. It’s likely that future renditions will bring in newer 4 Diamond rarity cards from sets not included here, but we’ll have to wait and see when the Pokemon TCG Pocket team announces the next one to know for sure.

Though it’s not quite a full slowdown of the new release pace, it does potentially offer a chance to fill in gaps from older sets while we wait for the next new boosters to drop. Notably, this new booster’s expiration date is also the release date for the Pokemon TCG Pocket Mega Evolution set. So, it definitely feels like an offer to help players catch up this month before that new drop arrives. Deluxe Pack: ex arrives in Pokemon TCG Pocket on September 29th and will be available until October 29th.
