PlayStation fans can secure $100 PSN credit for free with select PS5 purchases. As you may know, the next 12 months are shaping up to be a massive period for PS5 game releases, highlighted by the third-party games like GTA 6 and Resident Evil Requiem, and exclusives like Ghost of Yotei. GTA 6, in particular, is going to be a system seller. The biggest to date. To further incentivize all those who will be checking into the current gen of gaming for the first time over the next year or so to pick a PS5 rather than an Xbox Series X, Switch 2, or a new PC, Sony is offering free PSN credit. That said, you need to pull the trigger on a purchase soon.

Recently, Sony has begun to send promotional emails to PSN users with a $100 PlayStation Store voucher for those who upgrade to a PS5 console before September 20. They have been sending out the emails all month, so be sure to keep an eye on your inbox, as you may have already received one to the email attached to your PSN account. Unfortunately, if you want to upgrade to the PS5 Slim specifically, you may find this difficult, as it’s been selling out since the PS5 price increase.
Who’s Receiving the Offer?
Many PSN users who aren’t on PS5 — but still on PS4 — have reported receiving the new promotional offer; however, the offer does not appear to be ubiquitous. This is typical of Sony promotional offers. Meanwhile, if you purchased a console before this offer went live, but haven’t booted it up yet, you may still be able to redeem the offer if you were sent an email in the first place. However, this is obviously not going to be applicable to many.
It may sound crazy to some to still be on the PS4 in 2025; however, in some markets around the world, last-gen consoles remain the prevailing machines due to affordability. And while we are five years deep into the PS5 generation, the PS4 continues to get new, big games.
Interestingly, this new offer comes amidst reports that Sony is preparing to stop supporting the PS4. To this end, perhaps it should come as no surprise that it’s making a bigger push than normal to get PS4 users onto either a PS5 or a PS5 Pro.
