Silent Hill 2 Now $40 Off for the First Time

Last year’s PS5 game is marked down to just $29.99.

When it comes to the survival horror genre, Silent Hill has been one of the biggest names in gaming for more than two decades. The Konami published series has delighted fans throughout that time, across a number of beloved entries. Unfortunately, the series was largely missing in action for several years, following the cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills. Last year, Konami finally gave the series a chance at making a comeback, and the publisher has very big plans for the future. If you missed it in 2024, there’s a great opportunity to rectify that thanks to a new deal for the Silent Hill 2 remake.

The Silent Hill 2 remake has seen its biggest price drop yet, with a $40 discount currently live across multiple retailers. As of this writing, the PS5 version of the game can be found for just $29.99 from Amazon, from Target, and from GameStop. It’s impossible to say why the price has dropped so significantly, but this could be very good news for those that were interested in checking out Silent Hill f next month, which is the next game in the series.

Is Silent Hill 2 Worth Buying?

The original version of Silent Hill 2 was released back in 2001, and quickly earned a reputation as one of the greatest horror video games ever made. For that reason, there were a lot of concerns about the remake, and whether it could deliver an experience that lived up to the original. Thankfully, Konami and Bloober Team seemed to stick the landing, with an experience that has impressed both fans of the original, as well as those less familiar with the series. Last year, ComicBook’s Logan Moore gave the game a review score of 4.5 out of 5, calling it “a perfect jumping-on point” for those new to the franchise.

Moore was not the only one impressed by the game. Silent Hill 2 had a very strong Metacritic score at launch, which was much higher than expected. If you’ve been holding out on buying the game, this really is the perfect excuse to rectify that, especially if you’re a series newcomer. In fact, Konami has a lot of Silent Hill games on the way over the next few years. Following the release of Silent Hill f next month, there are at least two more games on the way: Silent Hill Townfall and a remake of the original Silent Hill. Silent Hill 2 was already seen as a good starting point for those that had never played the horror series, and now it’s much cheaper on top of all that.

Other Horror Game Deals You Might Enjoy

It’s worth noting that this deal only applies to the PS5 version of Silent Hill 2; if you want to check out the game on Steam, you’ll still have to pay the full $69.99. That’s sure to be a disappointment for some PC users, but several of Silent Hill 2 developer Bloober Team’s other horror games were recently discounted on Steam as part of a temporary sale. Steam users in need of a horror fix at a lower price point can always check out those games instead.
