Wanda Maximoff’s Scarlet Witch has been imagined in the real world with this incredible new Marvel Cinematic Universe cosplay that brings the hero-turned-villain to life. Elizabeth Olsen will soon be making her return to the MCU as a version of the Scarlet Witch, even though the live-action iteration of her magical character has been absent for a few years now. Before her much-anticipated return, it’s worth checking out this fantastic Scarlet Witch cosplay that brings one of Marvel’s most powerful characters to life in the real-world.

The Scarlet Witch’s dark and corrupted outfit from 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been imagined in a striking new cosplay outfit shared on X. @sythewitch imagines herself as the Scarlet Witch, a role that the artist has embodied a number of times in the past, alongside other Marvel heroes, including Sue Storm’s Invisible Woman. This cosplay captures the essence of the Scarlet Witch while proving that a performer’s race doesn’t matter when bringing Marvel’s most iconic heroes into live-action.

Where is the Scarlet Witch in the MCU?

Elizabeth Olsen first appeared as Wanda Maximoff in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, where she debuted as a minor villain working with her twin brother, Pietro Maximoff’s Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), under the thumb of the tyrannical artificial intelligence Ultron (James Spader). She quickly turned her back on Ultron and joined the Avengers, fighting on Team Cap in Captain America: Civil War and helping to fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. She suffered immense loss in all these projects, leading to her downward spiral in WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness, and ultimately culminating in her tragic demise.

Wanda Maximoff sacrificed herself when bringing down the Darkhold Castle on Mount Wundagore, and 2024’s Agatha All Along seemed to confirm her death in the MCU. However, there has been a great deal of speculation about her return, especially since she comes back into action in Marvel Comics after her apparent death. She returns with amnesia alongside Doctor Doom, which has spurred theories that the Scarlet Witch will be seen with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. This would bring her back into live-action after she’s first seen in animation.

Marvel Studios Animation’s upcoming Marvel Zombies series will bring the Scarlet Witch back to the MCU as the leader of a horde of zombies in an alternate reality. Marvel Zombies kicks off on September 24, 2025, marking the return of the zombie Scarlet Witch from 2021’s What If…? season 1, but the Chaos Magic-empowered hero-turned-villain is yet to return to live-action. It would be fantastic to see her in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, perhaps setting up her redemption arc in future MCU projects.
