For those of you who haven't seen The Avengers yet, please beware that there are spoilers ahead.

In one of his first spoiler-filled interviews with Ain't It Cool News earlier today, Avengers star Clark Gregg, who played the fan-favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and The Avengers, thanked fans for their support for him and the character, but said that it was unlikely the character would return for future films, and if he does, it will have been the doing of the fans. "I never know what Marvel is going to do, but I have to kind of feel like I'm trying to do my own business with 'I probably won't get to play this guy again.' I love it, who knows?" Gregg told AICN. "Who knows what the fans can make happen, you know what I mean? That would be hilarious to me if the fans somehow managed… It would be the fans who brought Coulson back to life, but I don't think there's any plans. They've got enough superheroes to now bring in to take his place, you know?" Since the release of the movie, fans have speculated the Coulson didn't actually die when he appeared to do so onscreen, or that he might return in some form, perhaps as The Avengers' robot member, The Vision.
