Family Guy Surprises With Its Wildest Disney Crossover Yet

Family Guy has become one of Disney’s major staples over the years, and now that has been cemented even further with one of the animated series’ wildest crossovers yet. Family Guy was recently renewed with other major FOX shows like The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers for a massive four season deal. This was part of 20th Television Animation and Disney’s committed to their biggest adult animated franchises, and further shows that they are hoping to keep these shows going for much longer. And given the shifts in Family Guy‘s schedule in the past couple of years, it’s a good sign for the future.

But there’s no better indicator of just how big Family Guy has become for Disney lately than with a new advertisement for the major Disney+ bundle. While it’s very short, it features John Cena (representing ESPN), Stitch (representing Disney+) and notably Stewie Griffin (representing Hulu). It might seem like a small thing in a vacuum, but it’s also a huge crossover for Family Guy that reveals how important it’s become to the Hulu streaming platform overall. Especially when it’s sharing the screen with other massive Disney franchises.

What Does This Mean for Family Guy’s Future?

Family Guy has been caught in some strange schedule shenanigans for the last couple of years. Not only was it removed from Fox’s Animation Domination block completely for a Fall season, it’s now shifted over to an entirely different kind of schedule as it’s airing its new episodes during the midseason window instead. It was something that fans of the long running series had taken notice of and even worried a bit about, but it’s all changed in the last year as the animated classic has swung in the complete opposite direction heading into the future.

Family Guy‘s place within Disney is now seeming more secure than ever before as along with that four season renewal, the series is also releasing exclusive holiday specials with Hulu. There are currently two available with the streaming service for Halloween and Christmas, and two more have already been announced to release later this year. Not only that, but when Family Guy returns for Season 24 on Fox in 2026, it will be joined by an also returning American Dad! (which has been saved from cancellation on TBS with four more seasons). But now that it’s also featured here as an “icon” for Hulu, over The Simpsons or another choice, that’s a big deal.

What’s Next for Family Guy?

20th Television Animation

Family Guy Season 24 will be making its debut with Fox’s Animation Domination block sometime in 2026, but a concrete premiere date has yet to be announced as of the time of this writing. It’s been teased that the new season will be featuring parodies of movie franchises like The Lord of the Rings, so there’s a lot to be excited for when the new episodes finally make their premiere. But there are a couple of episodes coming later this year as well.

Family Guy will be returning to Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on October 6th with its next Halloween special. Titled โ€œA Little Fight Music,โ€ Hulu teases what to expect from the new special episode as such, โ€œBrian and Stewie realize there is a shortage of quality Halloween songs, so they set out to write a hit, and Peter and the guys discover that lying about trick or treating can have deadly consequences.โ€ย There are also plans to release a new Christmas special too, but no release date has been set for it yet.
