Ahsoka Tano is returning to Star Wars in the franchise’s next TV show. The character has firmly established herself as a true Star Wars fan-favorite, coming a long way since her divisive debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie. That eventually led to her own TV show, Ahsoka, in 2023, spinning out of her appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2. The former Jedi hasn’t appeared on-screen since then, but will be making another appearance later this month while the wait for Ahsoka Season 2 continues, but it won’t be Rosario Dawson in the role.

The next outing for Ahsoka will arrive in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past, which marks her first animated appearance since 2022’s Tales of the Jedi. While we don’t know her full story yet, a couple of key details have been revealed. She’ll appear in BrickHeadz form, rather than being a standard LEGO minifigure, and she’ll be voiced by Ashley Eckstein. The actress has voiced Ahsoka since The Clone Wars movie, and that’s included animated works even since Dawson took on the live-action role, so it’s only right that she’s back.
Ashley Eckstein Is A Huge Part Of Ahsoka’s Legacy

Eckstein does not play Ahsoka in live-action, with Lucasfilm instead opting to go for Dawson, who had long been a popular fancast, but that in no way diminishes her importance to the character or the franchise. Both actresses are great in their roles and have their own strengths, but in many ways, Eckstein is Ahsoka. Having originated the character, so many of her speech patterns, mannerisms, and line deliveries are because of the voice star, and she brings a different energy and charm to the more mature and stoic version we see in live-action.
The actress perfectly conveyed the heart and spirit of the character, and is a big reason Ahsoka became so popular with the Star Wars fandom. Most of the best Ahsoka moments in the franchise are with Eckstein in the role (again, not to take anything away from Dawson, but The Clone Wars TV show and Star Wars Rebels do have her strongest arcs). The actress even voiced her in live-action, appearing in The Rise of Skywalker, as this was before Dawson had been cast. Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past is thus important, despite not being canon, because it rightly allows Eckstein to continue playing the character, building on her already incredible legacy, and that’s something to be celebrated.
What The Future Looks Like For Ahsoka Tano

Beyond LEGO, Ahsoka does have a big future in Star Wars, though more so in live-action than animation. Ahsoka Season 2 is in production, ahead of its release on Disney+ next year. There’s a hell of a lot to build upon, too, with Ahsoka and Sabine Wren still in another galaxy, the re-emergence of Grand Admiral Thrawn, Baylan Skoll’s quest that seemingly includes the Mortis Gods, and another return for Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker.
It’s also possible that it will lead Ahsoka back to the big screen. Back in 2023, plans were revealed for an event movie in the New Republic era that would serve as a culmination of what The Mandalorian and Ahsoka had been building to. The most prevalent theory is that it’ll be a canon version of the classic Legends story Heir to the Empire, with heroes teaming up to take on Thrawn. If that comes to fruition, then it’s pretty much a certainty Ahsoka would be involved.
There will also, quite likely, be more animated outings for the character. Nothing is confirmed, but Star Wars animation has never stayed away from Ahsoka for too long, and that should be the case for Eckstein too. Indeed, going back to her debut, the actress had voice credits as Ahsoka every year from 2008-2020, and has since returned in 2022 and now in 2025. Given how much Dave Filoni loves Ahsoka, and her status as perhaps the most popular animated character in the franchise’s history, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her appear elsewhere.
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past will be released on Disney+ on September 19, 2025. Ahsoka Season 2 does not yet have a release date, but is expected to air in 2026.
