Rent-a-Girlfriend has announced that the previously announced second half of Season 4 will instead be changed into a full Season 5 premiering next year. Rent-a-Girlfriend originally announced that Season 4 of the anime would be running for two cours of episodes with a break in between them, but now this second half is being treated as a full Season 5 of the anime instead. But this also likely means that it will feature a returning staff and cast from the fourth season as well. Though that has yet to be confirmed as of the time of this writing, the anime will be continuing through the rest of the infamous Hawaiians arc.

Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 featured a returning voice cast of Shun Horieย as Kazuya Kinoshita, Sora Amamiyaย as Chizuru Mizuhara, Aoi Yukiย as Mami Nanami, Nao Toyamaย as Ruka Sarashina, Rie Takahashiย as Sumi Sakurasawa, and Yu Serizawaย as Mini Yaemori. Each of these characters have been in the mix with the ongoing Hawaiians Arc that fans got to see in action with the fourth season, but there are still a few infamous scenes from the original manga that fans have been especially waiting to see animated as the controversial anime continues.

Why Is Rent-a-Girlfriend So Controversial?

The controversy surrounding Rent-a-Girlfriend has only gotten more fierce as the long series continues. Reiji Miyajima’s manga series continues to share new chapters, but despite how long it has been running its central couple is no closer to getting together than when the series began. Compared to other notable romances that are developing at a much faster rate, fans are looking at this manga series with more critical eyes than ever before. Especially after some of its big confession scenes have fallen apart completely.

The anime has been going with new seasons despite the fact that so many fans don’t want to see the series continue as it’s all following the same hollow pattern from when it first began. Its central characters haven’t really changed from when it first began, and the series really does fell like it’s spinning its wheels even after all these seasons later. But we’ll be seeing even more next year. For now, you can catch up with all of Rent-a-Girlfriend‘s current seasons streaming with Crunchyroll.
