Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira and the only Demon Slayer who can kill these monsters with poison, faces off against Doma, the Upper Rank Two. No matter how potent Shinobu’s poisons are, there’s no guarantee that they could instantly kill someone as powerful as the Upper Rank. As the international fans are still awaiting to see her in action, Saori Hayami, the voice behind the character, shares her thoughts on the character in a recent interview via Japan’s Mantan Web. Hayami also explains the biggest appeal of the anime, and she was right on the mark.
Demon Slayer Star Proudly Talks What Makes the Series a Shonen Anime Exemplar

Shinobu is usually a calm and composed character, but that’s just her outer shell. Deep beneath her beautiful smile, she hides immense anger and hatred towards demons that’s tragically heartbreaking. Despite her attempts to control her emotions, there are times when her anger bursts out of her, and we see it firsthand during her fight with Doma. According to Mantan Web, Hayami said that the appeal of Demon Slayer is “emotion.”
She continued, “I think it’s amazing how raw emotion is packed into the story. Not just the humans, but the demons as well. The story is packed with raw, painful passion and emotion. I think that’s the appeal of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.“

The story of Demon Slayer is set in a broken world where humans and demons struggle in different, yet somehow similar ways. A lot of the demons forget their memories over time and become monsters that seek only destruction. However, they were once humans who loved life and had people dear to them, and they remember their past on the brink of death. On the other hand, humans have been victims of these demons for over a thousand years.
Even though the Demon Slayer Corps has been fighting them all this time, it’s always the humans who suffer the most casualties. Not to mention that a lot of the members, such as Tanjiro Kamado, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and many more, joined the Corps after losing everything in life because of these monsters.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Is a Roller Coaster of Emotion

On the surface, the final arc is pure action, but the emotional depth is woven into nearly every layer of the battle. Each fight carries tremendous emotional weight, and we realize the match-ups aren’t just random, but the enemies each have a connection with one another. Whether it’s Tanjiro or Shinobu wanting to avenge the people they cared about, or if it’s Zenitsu facing off against a mysterious demon who made him change his entire demeanor, we learn so much about these characters in the middle of these fights.
The series has always focused on the weight of loss as each character carries deep, hidden scars that fuel their motivation. The final showdown against the demons is their only chance to not only seek personal revenge but also fight to ensure a better future for humans. Apart from these three fights that the anime has been hyping up for weeks, we will also see other characters in action, who pick up their swords one final time to put an end to Muzan Kibutsuji’s terror. The trilogy will continue the night-long battle, which seemed to last forever as neither side showed any signs of backing down.
The emotional depth of Demon Slayer is indeed its defining quality, but there’s more to the series than that. What other strengths do you think make it special? Let us know in the comments below!
