The acclaimed Weekly Shonen Jump manga, Haikyu!!, written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate, concluded the story in 2026. However, even several years after the story’s conclusion, the anime has yet to fully adapt it. Following the fourth season, the Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battleย film was released in February 2024. The sequel,ย Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giantย was confirmed in March 2025 with a special teaser hyping the match between Karasuno and Kamomedai High Schools. It’s been more than a year since the announcement, and fans still await the release window and an official trailer.

While the film’s details haven’t been revealed yet, Mantan Web shared an official visual featuring Shoyo Hinata and Kลrai Hoshiumi, who will be competing for the title of the Little Giant in the Spring Nationals. The visual was shared for the collaboration with the Volleyball Nations League 2026, which will commence on July 8th, 2026. Additionally, the anime will also share a collaborative video in mid-June to depict the Japanese national team players in action.
What to Expect From Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant
After winning against Nekoma High School in the latest film, the Karasuno team moves on to the Quarterfinals in the Spring High National Tournament. The anticipated match against Nekoma was more exciting than fans imagined, but Karasuno has to face even better teams from here on out. They will face off against Kamomedai High, a team that excels at serving, blocking, and mental fortitude, and all of those skills are better than any Karasuno has ever faced. Additionally, Kamomedai has its Little Giant, the teamโs Ace, Kลrai Hoshiumi, and the series has already teased his rivalry with Shoyo.
Shoyoโs raw talent, despite being the shortest on the team, didnโt go unnoticed by Kลrai or anyone else in the stadium. As someone eyeing the title of the Little Giant, Kลrai declares Shoyo his rival since they both admire the Little Giant. However, Kamomedai’s Ace isn’t the only one Karasuno has to look out for, since the entire team is full of those with exceptional skills.
Haikyu’s Final Arc Hasn’t Shared Any Updates So Far
Shortly after the National Tournament is over, the manga moves on to the Final Arc, following Hinataโs volleyball journey several years after he graduated from high school. The finale is highly praised among manga readers as one of the best conclusions in Shonen Jump‘s history.
Before the official teaser was released in 2025,ย Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giantย was expected to be the animeโs finale. The studio announced the two final movies in 2022, causing widespread controversy among fans, but the heat died down when the anime no longer listed the upcoming film as โfinal.โ The subtle update sparked hope about a Season 5 or another film. However, thatโs merely speculation at this point, as nothing can be certain as long as the animation studio doesnโt make any official statements.
