Wednesday offers a unique combination of elements, as itโ€™s one part detective series, one part supernatural horror, and one part macabre comedy sketch. Likewise, there are coming-of-age elements, complete with teenage angst, family drama, and the works. Finally, let us not forget the gothic aesthetic, which is a classic. While no show offers a one-for-one with all of these elements, there are plenty that play around with similar enough themes.

4) The Midnight Club

Fans looking to follow up on the dark and macabre will likely appreciate what The Midnight Club has to offer. This series is effectively ghost stories made real, with a plot that revolves around death and dying. The series follows a group of eight terminally ill teenagers and young adults. Theyโ€™re all living in the same hospice, Brightcliff Home, and they have more than their condition in common.

Dubbed the “Midnight Club”, they come together each night to tell different scary stories, which come to life thanks to television magic. In addition to making a promise to thrill and chill each other every night, they have one more promise: the first to pass will contact the rest from beyond the grave. Itโ€™s very in keeping with their groupโ€™s goals.

The Midnight Club tells a series of different spooky stories, but there are plenty of layers for viewers to appreciate. In addition to the clubโ€™s premise, thereโ€™s a dark secret lurking within Brightcliff Home. The amateur sleuths of Wednesday will want to sink their teeth into this mystery.

The Midnight Club is available to stream on Netflix.

3) A Good Girlโ€™s Guide to Murder

You may notice a familiar face when it comes to A Good Girlโ€™s Guide to Murder, as apparently, itโ€™s Enidโ€™s turn to become obsessed with solving a murder. Well, not really. Emma Myers (Enid) takes on a new role as Pip Fitz-Amobi, a high schooler who canโ€™t get over a local disappearance. She knows thereโ€™s more to this story; itโ€™s the type of event small towns work very hard not to think about overly much.

A Good Girlโ€™s Guide to Murder is based on Holly Jacksonโ€™s novel of the same name, and it follows young Pip as she digs into a missing person and related suicide, as she knows the pieces of this puzzle fit together too neatly to be the truth. In digging up this mystery, she quickly finds that there is a whole lot more going on beneath the surface, and that the real perpetrator is still active out in the world.

Wednesday fans who really loved the murder mystery elements will easily latch onto the mystery of A Good Girlโ€™s Guide to Murder. Both shows highlight female amateur sleuths, both of whom happen to be perfectly cast. A Good Girlโ€™s Guide to Murder offers a somewhat brutal look at teenage drama, not unlike Wednesday.

A Good Girlโ€™s Guide to Murder is available to stream on Netflix.

If itโ€™s the supernatural and gothic elements that made you love Wednesday, then What We Do In The Shadows is the show for you. What We Do In The Shadows combines comedy and horror into a mockumentary-style series, following a group of seemingly clueless vampires. Yes, really.

What We Do In The Shadows revolves around a group of vampires residing in the same Staten Island home: Nandor the Relentless, Laszlo Cravensworth, Nadja of Antipaxos, and Colin Robinson. Of course, we cannot forget about their human familiar, Guillermo de la Cruz. While this crew has been tasked with taking over the Americas, they largely get distracted by everyday events, vampire drama, and their own personal goals.

What We Do In The Shadows is perfect for Wednesday fans who want that unique blend of comedy, supernatural, and gothic elements. It has Taika Waititi at the helm, so you know this series is going to have some fun.

What We Do In The Shadows is available to stream on Disney+, Hulu, and Sling TV.

1) The Haunting of Hill House

Those looking for a slightly more traditional supernatural horror series will love what they find in The Haunting of Hill House. This miniseries is dark and hauntingโ€”literally, as one family is desperately trying to renovate a haunted mansion. It should have been a quick flip scheme, but the paranormal inhabitants have other plans for this family.

The Haunting of Hill House is based on Shirley Jacksonโ€™s 1959 novel of the same name, rotating between two distinct points in time. There are the haunting events of 1992, and the present day, where five siblings are trying to understand what happened.

The Haunting of Hill House is perfect for Wednesday fans looking for something a bit darker, while still holding on to the family-centric themes. It takes a deep dive into the darker side of the supernatural and the human trauma it can cause.

The Haunting of Hill House is available to stream on Netflix.
