While not a blockbuster hit, Kiki’s Delivery Service, which was originally released in 1989, gained recognition over the decades around the globe. 2026 is turning out to be an exciting year for Kiki’s Delivery Service fans since the film made its IMAX debut in North America this March. Not only that, but the official X handle of Viz Media confirmed that Kiki’s Delivery Service: The Official Cookbook is available for pre-order. The book has been officially created by the studio and will release its English version on October 27th, as part of Viz Media’s fall 2026 lineup.
What Is Kiki’s Delivery Service About?
This fantasy film follows the journey of a young witch named Kiki who embarks on a new journey with her cat, Jiji. It’s a tradition for young witches to leave their homes on the night of a full moon and venture into the world to learn more about magic. Kiki has been looking forward to a new journey in her life, but living on her own is a lot more difficult than she realized. The film depicts her struggles as she loses her confidence and often stumbles along the way before she fully accepts what makes her truly special.
The film features an enticing range of foods, including pumpkin potpie and chocolate cake that Madame gifted to Kiki. The cookbook includes all those recipes so fans will be able to try them out at their own homes. The detailed step-by-step instructions are easy enough for everyone to understand and follow along. It also includes additional recipes inspired by the film’s story.
What’s Next For Studio Ghibli This Year?
Although Hayao Miyazaki began working on a new film ever since The Boy and the Heron was released in 2023, the studio has yet to share any details about it. While fans await for Miyazaki’s return, they can still look forward to the annual Studio Ghibli Fest in North America, which will commence in July and continue until October.
The fest kicks off with the 2008 classic film, Ponyo, which will begin screening on June 13th and end its theatrical re-release on the 17th of the same month. Tickets and the schedule of this year’s fest are already available on the official website of GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment, so don’t forget to check out the dates and timing at your nearest theater.
