A new leak gives us some more insight into what the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC could’ve been like. It was recently revealed that Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man titles are some of the best selling games in PlayStation history, which probably isn’t that big of a surprise to many. The wall-crawler is one of the biggest superheroes out there and Insomniac has done a tremendous job at adapting his powers and stories into a video game. Since 2018, there have been three games, including Miles Morales’ own spin-off game, and a handful of DLC for the first game. Some fans hoped to see DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as that game had a lot of loose ends.

Unfortunately, it seems like that DLC may have gotten scrapped somewhere along the way. Datamining and leaks for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have confirmed that there were plans for DLC at least at some point. This DLC would’ve contained new stories, but also continued ones from the main game. It seemed like we’d get a resolution to the Carnage storyline as well as provided more clarity on what the heck was going on with the Spider-Verse crossover in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, nothing ever came and fans have remained confused as to why there’s no DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Leak Reveals DLC Voice Lines
However, a recently discovered leak that has actually been quietly sitting on Reddit for almost two months shines a light on things. As has been rumored for quite some time, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would’ve had a DLC revolving around the villain known as Beetle. He’s not in the main game, so this would’ve been his first appearance, but the DLC would have had a robot-theme. The leak features voice lines from Miles Morales noting some of his discoveries, such as finding a robot factory and trying to get to the bottom of exactly where they came from. Interestingly enough, Miles mentions a “rogue AI” as a threat, potentially suggesting Beetle would have been an artificial intelligence that took control of robots.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a lot of odd mysteries that were never resolved, including what appeared to be a reference to The Hand that was never followed up on. There was also a leak that revealed that Insomniac was working on a Venom spin-off game at one point. It’s unclear how far along that made it and if it will still happen. It’s possible Venom voice actor Tony Todd’s death threw a wrench into those plans.
