Every Character Confirmed for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

It’s a great year for racing games, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds should be a huge part of that. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is not out yet, but it is shaping up to be a pretty popular game, even in a year with Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders. It is poised to be the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate of Sonic racing games, which is to say that it’s going to be filled with crossovers from other gaming franchises. It has plenty of Sonic characters, even ones that are quite unknown, along with other icons of the video game industry. Here is every character we know is coming so far.

Sonic the Hedgehog

It should come as no surprise that Sonic is in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. He’s been the mascot for SEGA forever and is the most prominent character. He is likely to be pretty popular, akin to Mario in Mario Kart.

Tails the Fox

Sonic’s best friend and most trusted companion, Tails the Fox, or Miles Prower, is also joining the roster. Fittingly, he appears to be frequently driving a flighted vehicle, which is something he does in the mainline games.

Knuckles the Echidna

Knuckles is also no surprise, as he’s become a genuine mainstay for Team Sonic since his introduction in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. He is one of the few characters who would have to be in a game like this.

Shadow the Hedgehog

Shadow is also present for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. The anti-hero of the Sonic franchise, Shadow, might be the most popular and beloved character in the series, so he’s back as well.

Amy Rose

It’s a good time for SEGA to do more with Amy Rose. She is poised to play a huge role in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 film, so it’s no surprise that she’s been tapped to join the roster.

Eggman

Much like Bowser in Mario Kart, Sonic and Eggman can sometimes put their staggering differences aside to race against one another, which is why the villain is on the roster here.

Espio the Chameleon

Espio is one of the lesser-known Sonic characters, but he actually debuted in the 1990s, so he’s been around. He isn’t a hedgehog or echidna, which might help him stand out on the roster.

Jet the Hawk

Similarly, Jet is also a bit lesser known than others. Ironically, Jet the Hawk first debuted in Sonic Riders, which was a racing game in 2006. It is very fitting that he’s back for this game.

E-123 Omega

E-123 Omega is one of the more interesting characters in the Sonic lore. He was created by Eggman and is now driven by revenge to destroy Eggman, so he’s a pseudo-hero that has made his way onto the CrossWorlds roster.

Big the Cat

Big the Cat is another character outside the main group that’s actually been part of Team Sonic for over 25 years, and he is part of the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds team.

Cream the Rabbit

Cream the Rabbit is coming back to be a playable character in the racing game. We do not yet have confirmation that her Chao, which she hilariously named Cheese, is going to join her.

Sage

Sage is a very recent addition to the Sonic canon, serving as one of the antagonists of Sonic Frontiers. Just a few years later, the character is now one of the drivers in perhaps the biggest Sonic racing game yet.

Metal Sonic

Metal Sonic is an extremely popular character (much like another evil alternative to Sonic, Shadow), so it’s no surprise whatsoever that he’s on the roster. He’ll probably end up being one of the most used racers.

Vector the Crocodile

Vector hasn’t been in a Sonic the Hedgehog game since the final Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games in 2021. Before that, he was in Team Sonic Racing in 2019, so he’s finally back.

Silver the Hedgehog

Much like Shadow and Metal Sonic, Silver, yet another morally ambiguous hedgehog, is a very popular character, so Team Sonic had no choice but to add him to the expansive roster.

Storm the Albatross

Just like Jet the Hawk, Storm the Albatross, another bird character, debuted in Sonic Riders, so it’s nice that the character is back in a racing game where it all began.

Wave the Swallow

Wave the Swallow appeared for the first time as a third bird character in Sonic Riders, so just like Storm and Jet, she is back where she belongs.

The Werehog

The Werehog is Sonic’s alter ego from the 2008 platformer Sonic Unleashed. At night, Sonic turned into a werehog. In Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, he’s a pre-order bonus character.

Zazz

Zazz is a character that has been confirmed, though there’s no image of him in the game just yet. He is a member of the Deadly Six and debuted in Sonic Lost World.

Blaze the Cat

Blaze is also part of the group of characters confirmed but unseen. She first debuted in 2005’s Sonic Rush and has gone on to be a pretty popular character, so it’s a surprise she’s only in the “confirmed but not revealed” list.

Charmy Bee

Charmy has been confirmed for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as well. Charmy has surprisingly been around since Knuckles Chaotix in 1995, so he’s a longstanding member of the team and has been added to the upcoming roster.

Zavok

Zavok is confirmed as well. He’s been used sparingly in the Sonic series, appearing first in Sonic Lost World. He has also been in Sonic Forces and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, so this will be one of his biggest appearances yet.

Rouge the Bat

Rouge the Bat, known for her iconic relationship with Knuckles throughout the game, is an antagonist that is officially confirmed for the upcoming racing game.

Rusty Rose

Rusty Rose is a cyborg version of Amy Rose, and she debuted in a television show, not a game. She first appeared in Sonic Prime before making it into some games, and now she’s on the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds roster.

Nine

Nine is a similar character to Rusty Rose. He is a cyborg version of Tails with seven mechanical tails to give him nine total. He’s also from Sonic Prime and is confirmed for the roster.

Knuckles the Dread

The final Sonic Prime character is Knuckles the Dread, which is a pirate version of Knuckles also known as Captain Dread. He’ll be playable in the upcoming game. The three Prime characters are included in the digital deluxe version.

Egg Pawn

Egg Pawn is a generic version of the robots Eggman uses to attack Sonic, so it’s akin to playing as a Goomba or a Koopa Troopa in Mario Kart. It is the basic model.

Hatsune Miku

Hatsune Miku’s second 2025 collaboration with a popular video game is Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. She was also featured in Fortnite, and now she’s a playable racer in this game.

Kasuga Ichiban

Another collaborative character, Kasuga Ichiban, hails from the Yakuza series, which is perhaps SEGA’s second most popular video game franchise after Sonic.

Joker

The other option for SEGA’s second most popular series is Persona, which is where Joker comes from. He was in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so he’s no stranger to joining games like this. You can expect more of SEGA’s other franchises to crossover here at some point as well.

Steve, Alex, and the Creeper

The first non-SEGA video game characters to be confirmed for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds are the Minecraft trio. Steve, Alex, and a Creeper will be playable as part of the Season Pass (wave one).

SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star

SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star are also joining the roster. Like the Minecraft trio, they’ll be accessible as part of the Season Pass in the second wave. This will be paid and does not come with the game automatically.

Pac-Man and the Ghosts

pac-man-chomp-champs.jpg

Pac-Man, maybe the most iconic video game character, is joining the roster along with his ghosts, Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde. They’re part of the Pac-Man Pack available for

More characters, including some from Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, are planned, but they have not yet been confirmed.
