We’d love to see Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool cross paths with these Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes in Avengers: Doomsday, should the Merc with a Mouth return in the Phase 6 crossover movie. Wade Wilson made his first official appearance in the MCU in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine โ the same version of the character from the Earth 10005 of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise. Deadpool & Wolverine not only became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, but also one of the MCU’s most beloved and successful movies, which makes Deadpool’s return in Avengers: Doomsday all but inevitable.

Ryan Reynolds wasn’t included in Marvel Studios’ first chair-laying ceremony in March that revealed the first 27 actors cast in Avengers: Doomsday. A new announcement is rumored to be taking place in the coming weeks, which could easily include Reynolds, especially after he confirmed he’s now developing a Deadpool and X-Men team-up movie for the MCU. If Deadpool does return in Avengers: Doomsday, there are a number of MCU characters we hope he crosses paths with during the battle against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
4) Charles Xavier’s Professor X

Despite retiring from the role after his emotional adventure in 2017’s Logan, Patrick Stewart returned as a variant of Charles Xavier’s Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and he’ll soon be reprising the role again. Avengers: Doomsday will feature a number of X-Men characters, including Stewart’s telepathic mutant. Since Deadpool has spent years making jokes about the X-Men, it would be fantastic to finally see him come face-to-face with the team and its leader.
It’s unclear whether Patrick Stewart will be playing Earth 10005’s Professor X in Avengers: Doomsday, but since Deadpool saved that reality in Deadpool & Wolverine, this is very possible. Countless X-Men jokes were included in 2016’s Deadpool and its 2018 sequel, so it’d be great to see these finally get paid off before Stewart is finally replaced in the role in the MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot. Deadpool could even join the team after proving himself in Deadpool & Wolverine, which would certainly be a sight to behold.
3) Peter Parker’s Spider-Man

As the subjects of one of Marvel Comics’ most popular and entertaining limited series, it would be incredible to see Deadpool and Spider-Man team up in the live-action MCU. These heroes almost couldn’t be more opposite to each other, but with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker growing up, becoming more mature and grounded, and losing everyone he loves in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he is perfectly primed to join forces with the Merc with a Mouth. He’s about to test his more brutal and violent tendencies with the Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, so Deadpool could be next.
After Deadpool made a Spider-Man tease in Deadpool & Wolverine, firing his imaginary web-shooters in the car with Wolverine, it’s high time Marvel Studios brings these heroes together. Spider-Man needs new friends in the MCU, and Deadpool could be just the mentor he needs โ unabashed, unapologetic, but severely protective. This would be a hilarious partnership to see in the MCU, but Avengers: Doomsday has the opportunity to pull it off perfectly.
2) Jennifer Walters’ She-Hulk

It’s a shame that Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters also hasn’t been confirmed to be returning in Avengers: Doomsday just yet. She is one of the most exciting and powerful new heroes introduced to the MCU in recent years, so it would be great to see her team up with her cousin to take on Doctor Doom. This could bring her face-to-face with Wade Wilson, creating one of the most interesting partnerships in the MCU’s history, as both Deadpool and She-Hulk are both fourth wall-breakers.
The source of Deadpool and She-Hulk’s ability to break the fourth wall is uncertain, but two of these characters have never been seen together in the MCU before. By partnering them, Avengers: Doomsday could do something completely new, while also giving She-Hulk more substance and redemption after her lackluster debut back in 2022. Deadpool and She-Hulk have teamed up on several occasions in Marvel Comics, so we hope this is translated to the MCU very soon.
1) Thor

Chris Hemsworth was the first actor confirmed to be cast during Marvel’s initial announcement back in March, extended his long-running career as the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor. Even though 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder was a sour adventure for Thor, his return in Avengers: Doomsday is very exciting, and even more so after Deadpool & Wolverine teased him teaming up with Deadpool. Through the use of archive footage from 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, Thor cried over an injured Deadpool on a screen in the Time Variance Authority, depicting a scene from a “distant future.”
It would be brilliant to see this scene unfold in Avengers: Doomsday, with Deadpool and Thor forming some kind of special bond during the battle against Doctor Doom. This could explain exactly why Thor was crying over Deadpool, and whether Deadpool actually finally dies, answering one of the MCU’s most entertaining mysteries. If Ryan Reynolds returns in Avengers: Doomsday, he’ll surely have to edit himself significantly, but bringing him into contact with these characters and many more would be great to see in the MCU.
