Who doesn’t love a game library full of great options for your next gaming session? But acquiring an extensive collection of games, especially for the Nintendo Switch, can be pricey. The price of new games sure isn’t getting cheaper any time soon. But thankfully, sales on older titles are still a great way to grab some great games for a discount.
From August 29th to September 10th, the Nintendo eShop is hosting its end-of-summer Blockbuster Sale. And that means some great third-party (and even a few first-party) games for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 are on sale. Discounts range from 25% to as much as 84% off, and there are some solid games on the list. If you’re looking for the best deals, here are the top games that combine a decent sale price and solid quality.
10. Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Price: $29.99 / $39.99
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a relatively new entry in the cozy space, and it’s filling the Animal Crossing gap for many Switch owners. This Sanrio game lets you design your own cute critter avatar. Then, you explore the Adventure Park island and help iconic characters like Hello Kitty, Chococat, and Cinnamoroll with various quests. And yes, there’s plenty of cabin decorating to satisfy that creative itch.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a bit pricey compared to many similar games. It also doesn’t tend to go on sale all that often, so being marked down to 25% off in the Nintendo eShop is a pretty solid deal. And if you need the extra provided in the Deluxe Edition, that’s on sale as well.
9. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4

Price: $37.99 / $49.99
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has only been out for a little over a month. Since it was released back in July, fans of the original have been kickflipping their way through the remake. And as our own review reports, it’s a solid remake. The game delivers the nostalgia of the original skateboarding game classics with a modern polish.
At 25% off, this may not be the steepest discount on our list, but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is a pretty recent release. So, this is a great opportunity to get it on sale. If you’re a Digital Deluxe Edition kind of gamer, that version is also on sale for 30% off during the Nintendo eShop Blockbuster Sale.
8. Cult of the Lamb

Price: $12.99 / $24.99
Don’t let the cute graphics fool you. Despite being beloved by cozy gamers, indie classic Cult of the Lamb has the twisted sense of humor its name implies. As a possessed lamb, players will create and lead their own cult. Yes, there’s a fishing minigame, but there’s also rival cult leaders to defeat and dark rituals to perform.
This beloved indie game reently released a brand-new free Unholy Alliance update that adds a ton of new content, including local co-op. So, it’s perfect timing for Cult of the Lamb to be 50% off in the Nintendo eShop during the BlockBuster sale.
7. Ooblets

Price: $17.99 / $29.99
Ooblets is a bit of an odd blend, mixing farming sim elements, creature collecting, and… dance battles? The game’s townfolk quests and gifting mechanics make this one popular with Animal Crossing fans, but it’s definitely a game all its own. You will raise your Ooblets for card-based battles, but in this case, they’re using the power of dance to compete.
During the Blockbuster Sale, Ooblets is a solid 40% off. If you’ve been looking for a new, somewhat unique cozy game for the Nintendo Switch, now’s a great time to grab this fan favorite for less.
6. Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

Price: $9.99 / $49.99
This 2019 remaster brought the once Xbox-exclusive Tales of Vesperia to a wider audience. The game is considered one of the better entries in the series by critics and fans alike. Vesperia features the JRPG goodess the franchise is known for, along with one of the better protagonists in Yuri. It’s a solid, story-driven JRPG that will deliver whether you’re a seasoned Tales fan or new to the games.
Right now, you can check out Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition for a steal at 80% off during the Blockbuster Sale. That brings the $50 game down to just $10, so what are you waiting for, JRPG fans?
5. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – Complete Edition

Price: $17.99 / $49.99
Ubisoft recently dropped a brand-new Prince of Persia game, so this franchise is ripe for revisiting. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a solid entry in the franchise, with plenty of action-adventure platforming goodness. This 2D return to form is great for fans of the older games, as well as for Metroidvania lovers.
During the Nintendo eshop sale, the complete editdion of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is 65% off. That means you can get the base game and its DLC for less than $20. Not a bad deal, if you ask me.
4. Borderlands – Game of the Year Edition

Price: $9.89 / $29.99
The newest entry in the Borderlands series is almost here. But there’s still a few weeks to wait, which makes now an excellent time to revisit the best edition of the first game. This co-op looter shooter that sparked the beloved franchise gets new weapons, DLC packs, and some visual upgrades in the Game of the Year edition. So whether it’s your first time with the game or a nostalgic return, this version is a solid one to have in your library.
The Game of the Year edition of Borderlands is 67% off in the Nintendo eShop until the end of the Blockbuster Sale. If you want even more Borderlands goodness, the Legendary Collection is also on sale, bringing you the first two games and the Pre-Sequel for the same price of just $10 while it’s on sale.
3. Monster Hunter Stories Deluxe Collection

Price: $24.99 / $69.99
The Monster Hunter Stories games are a fun, creature-collecting spin on the Monster Hunter formula. They’re often recommended as a solid comp for fans of Pokemon and JRPG lovers, and this collection brings the first two games together along with some additional DLC content. If you’ve been curious about these games, this sale marks a great chance to grab the first two while we wait on the recently revealed third installment.
The Deluxe Collection, which includes Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (Deluxe Edition is currently 50% off. That makes it temporarily cheaper than buying either game on its own, which is a great deal if you want some solid hours of gaming to look forward to.
2. Crash Bandicoot – Quadrilogy Bundle

Price: $27.99 / $59.99
Crash Bandicoot fans won’t want to miss the chance to grab the original trilogy, along with the more recent Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, at a discount. The Quadrilogy Bundle brings together Crash Bandicot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, all for the Nintendo Switch. And yes, those older games have been visually remastered.
This impressive Crash Bandicoot collection is 60% off during the Blockbuster Sale, getting you four games for less than $30. If you’re looking for just the N. Sane Trilogy or Crash Bandicoot 4 ithout the bundle, those are on sale, as well. In all, a great time to complete your Nintendo Switch Crash Bandicoot lineup.
1. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

Price: $9.99 / $59.99
We all know Nintendo doesn’t often discount its first-party games. So, this is a rare opportunity to grab a Mario game at an impressive discount. Yes, this is more of a bizarre spinoff than a true Mario game, but we’ll take it. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is the second of the Rabbids crossover games, and most fans agree it improves upon the first. In this installment, gamers will build a team with Mario and several Rabbid companions to help save your friends in an epic race across the galaxy.
At 83% off, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is definitely one of the best deals in the Blockbuster Sale for Nintendo Switch. This discount brings the $60 game down to just $10, so now’s a great time to try this unusual Mario title for much less.
