From 2021 to 2025 we have received a whopping 16 Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney+. And, to a considerable extent, the vast number of small screen projects has hurt the overarching universe on the big screen. It’s hard to consider a movie an event if a related series just wrapped up. However, Marvel seems to have recognized that they went a little overboard on the series production, so they’ve slowed things down a bit. However, the Disney+ wing is not finished, nor should it be, so the question is “What’s next?” Several of the following shows seem to have a healthy future in store for them while there are also a few other particularly exciting new shows to expect, so let’s dive into them.

Excluded were the Netflix series, like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders. They have been retroactively incorporated into the MCU but they did not start out as a part of the MCU (and their initial runs have all definitively concluded anyway). Furthermore, the three ABC Marvel shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, and the short-lived Inhumans, were not included.
17) WandaVision

The very first (and still the best) Marvel Disney+ show, WandaVision, was always supposed to be a miniseries. So, it will not be returning for a sophomore season. However, its narrative threads have still been continued in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Agatha All Along, with Vision Quest on the way.
16) The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was another miniseries, and unfortunately one not nearly as effective as WandaVision. Like WandaVision, though, it has also seen its narrative threads continued. In this case in both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
15) Loki

Like WandaVision, Loki was a show that really worked. It was also the first Marvel Disney+ show to get a sophomore season, which was considered by many to be even better than its debut year. One of its main reasons for existing was to set up Kang the Conqueror, which didn’t end up being a direction the MCU was going to take, but it has seen a character continue to appear in the saga. Specifically, Wunmi Mosaku’s Hunter B-15, who popped up a few times in Deadpool & Wolverine. As for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, he’ll next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday instead of a Loki Season 3.
14) What If…?

The first season of What If…?, which was part of Phase Four, ran for nine episodes back in 2021. Season 2 then debuted in late 2023 with Season 3 following one year later. It has been confirmed by Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, that What If…? will not receive a fourth season, as the Watcher’s story has already been told in full. However, Marvel Zombies is a spin-off of What If…?, but more on that later.
13) Hawkeye

Hawkeye was another miniseries, which certainly helped it feel like a compactly delivered tale, but it’s still hard to know that Jeremy Renner is likely done with the MCU (though he did voice Clint Barton one more time in What If…? Season 2). A few of the miniseries other stars have continued to have a presence in the MCU. Standout Alaqua Cox went on to get her own miniseries in Echo, Tony Dalton’s Jack Duquesne popped up in Daredevil: Born Again, and Florence Pugh voiced Yelena Belova in two episodes of Marvel Zombies and led Thunderbolts*. She is also assumed to have one of the more major roles in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
As for Hailee Steinfeld, she voiced Kate Bishop in an episode of What If…? Season 3 and two episodes of Marvel Zombies. She also put in a cameo appearance in The Marvels, which likely leads to a Champions show. However, that show, which would team Bishop’s Hawkeye with Cassie Lang’s Stature, Ironheart, Ms. Marvel, Wiccan, and America Chavez, is not confirmed.
12) Moon Knight

Moon Knight seems like the kind of Disney+ show that could have received subsequent seasons, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. It was and remains a miniseries. Oscar Isaac voiced the title character in an episode of What If…? but he is not scheduled to appear in any upcoming projects, including Avengers: Doomsday.
11) Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel is listed as a miniseries, and even one of its stars has expressed doubt about it getting a second season, so it seems safe to count this one out. That said, we will almost certainly see more of Iman Vellani in the MCU. She’s too well-cast and is clearly having a blast. Since her debut in Ms. Marvel, Vellani has appeared in both The Marvels and Marvel Zombies, with a rumored appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars en route.
10) She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is yet another miniseries and one that, after three years, hasn’t really led to anything. Tatiana Maslany has unfortunately not appeared in any MCU projects since, though she is rumored to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Here’s hoping that massive crossover film finds something for Patty Guggenheim’s Madisynn King to do as well. Maybe she’s the one who (likely by accident) saves the entire universe from Doctor Doom.
9) Secret Invasion

Almost certainly the MCU’s most universally dismissed small screen project, most fans of the Universe are likely happy to learn that, yes, Secret Invasion was a miniseries. Given how it ends it’s hard to see where a sophomore year would even go. Samuel L. Jackson once more played Nick Fury in The Marvels, but that took place before Secret Invasion, which appears to be the final goodbye for a character who has been around since the beginning.
8) Echo

Like Iman Vellani, Alaqua Cox’s very first acting gig was in the MCU and, right off the bat, showed she could be a consistent scene-stealer. It’s hard to imagine Echo having come to fruition had that not been the case. As of now there is no scheduled follow-up to this miniseries, but it’s doubtful Echo is done with Kingpin just as it’s doubtful the MCU is done with Cox.
7) Agatha All Along

Not to be redundant, but Agatha All Along was always intended to be a miniseries, so don’t expect a second season. However, it had Kathryn Hahn continue to deliver one of the best performances in the entirety of the MCU, so don’t count her out of it in general. As of this time, however, she doesn’t have anything Marvel lined up, nor does Wiccan performer Joe Locke, unless Champions ends up happening.
6) Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was so well received it not only got the ball rolling on a sophomore season, but a third as well. Season 2 is scheduled for 2026 while Season 3 does not have a set year of release. However, considering Season 1 debuted this year, it seems a one-year turnaround is quite do-able. One could likely expect Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 3 in 2027.
5) Daredevil: Born Again

One part continuation of the three-season Netflix saga and one-part slight tonal reboot, Daredevil: Born Again was Charlie Cox’s full introduction to the MCU after cameos in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Echo. All in all 18 episodes were planned, which have now been split into two seasons, the second of which will debut in March 2026. An untitled Punisher special is also expected in 2026. What’s more, a third season of Born Again is also in development, with no tentative release date in place.
4) Ironheart

After debuting in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dominique Thorne’s Ironheart got her very own show with, well, Ironheart. Once again this was a miniseries, but Thorne will reappear in the MCU. On top of voicing Ironheart twice in Marvel Zombies, she is also rumored to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s also highly doubtful Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto was a one-off.
3) Eyes of Wakanda

The four-episode Eyes of Wakanda was the most recent miniseries to enter the Disney+ MCU canon. In other words, the visually impressive animated show is not expected to return for a subsequent season. However, the show’s developer, Ryan Coogler, has the third Black Panther movie on the way.
2) Marvel Zombies

Unlike What If…?, Marvel Zombies was intended to be a miniseries. Even still, most fans enjoyed what they got and it was again fun to hear a bunch of familiar favorites like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ Awkwafina and Simu Liu and small screen MCU vets Iman Vellani, Dominique Thorne, Hailee Steinfeld, and Wyatt Russell.
1) Future

Outside the aforementioned Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Daredevil: Born Again continuations (as well as the possible Champions show), Marvel has a few new projects coming to Disney+. These include Wonder Man, Vision Quest, and a mysterious Marvel Studios Special Presentation (perhaps the Punisher special mentioned in the Daredevil: Born Again entry).
Vision Quest continues Vision’s story after WandaVision and even includes the return of James Spader as Ultron. Wonder Man introduces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s title character to the MCU as well as Ed Harris as his agent. That show will also feature the return of Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, who was last seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Wonder Man debuts in December of this year while Vision Quest will be released at an unspecified date in 2026.
